For a lot of people, their first experience of SquareTrade is getting a warranty for an eBay purchase. It doesn't always occur that a SquareTrade Care Plan is available on any electronics, wherever they bought them.
Let's face it... we're used to warranties being pushed at us when we're standing at the check-out with fifteen people right behind us. The idea that we can get a warranty on an item not specifically in our hands at that exact moment in time is a little bit foreign to us as consumers. But as more and more people find out that they can take the initiative, the more and more they are.
How do we know? Because we're seeing it happen. Our warranty sales from offline purchases have doubled in the last two months alone.
People are going to Best Buy, they're going to Circuit City and Target and Wal-Mart and Costco, buying their electronics, saying no to the warranty they're offered, then coming home and logging in to SquareTrade.com to get the warranty they want.
That's a pretty different mindset from anything they've done before, but it seems to be working for them.
