While we're still lamenting that AT&T is the only game in town for the Apple iPhone (oh, how we wish it could've at least been a Cingular iPhone plan), the real pain goes to you world travelers. A lot of people have taken their iPhones on vacation or business trips, checked their email, sent a few, and come home to thousand-dollar bills under their AT&T cell phone calling plan. Nice one, AT&T... almost as good as that 300-page bill you sent in a box.
Well, somebody at AT&T finally got the hint. Starting right now, you can get an international data plan for your iPhone. It'll run you an additional $25 for a 20MB international data package, and $60 for 50MB.
And if you're taking that iPhone on the road often enough to warrant that kind of dough, you should make sure it's covered by a really good warranty, particularly one with Accidental Damage Protection. You know how rough those Canadians can be.
Further proof the ex-Cingular crew is joining the rest of us here in the 21st Century: AT&T's president of national distribution, Glenn Laurie, has announced that they'll be recommending an unlimited plan for the iPhone, not unlike the one nearly every other smartphone on the market has.
