Oh, how you hurt us, Research In Motion. They've decided on a November 23 street date for the new BlackBerry Pearl 8130... yup, that's Black Friday to you and me and the Viking hordes standing ready to pillage your local mall. Sadly, based on what we saw at CTIA, the 8130 might just be worth it.
Not only does it keep up all the previous BlackBerry features, but it's adding integrated GPS functions and a smoother interface. It's running for $200 with a 2-year contract, with a $50 mail-in rebate, but they couldn't just leave it at that, now could they? Verizon's also offering a new Power Vision BlackBerry Pack, which gives you unlimited web and data, unlimited SMS messaging, GPS and TV, and support for ten email accounts, all for a measly extra $30 a month.
Their idea of insurance costs anywhere from $1.99 to $5.99 a month, whereas a SquareTrade BlackBerry warranty will only run you about $24 for three years, and has optional Accidental Damage Protection if you want to make sure your new toy stays safe.
