That's right, you smug Europeans who get all the cool stuff before we do... the Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry Pearl 8120 has been liberated and is coming to our glorious shores well ahead of schedule, courtesy of AT&T.
The second-generation Pearl 8120 replaces the now refurb-only Blackberry 8100 with a few not-so-subtle updates... that Wi-Fi, which bumps it up into the 8800 and 8820 range, being the first. It also ups the camera megapixels from 1.3 to 2.0 and adds video capture to the mix, upgrades to a better web browser, lasts longer on a single battery charge, and has the minty-fresh scent of pine. Okay, maybe it's just our Blackberrys that smell like that.
If your old Blackberry is looking a bit dowdy and you're willing to part with $200 with a two-year contract, you should be able to score the 8120 within the next few days. And when you do, consider that AT&T won't offer you any cell phone insurance for it, even as overpriced as it is, but you can put a 3-Year SquareTrade smart phone warranty on it for just $24... a bit more if you want Accidental Damage coverage. Up to you.
