Square Trade offers extended warranties on tons of stuff. In fact, chances are that if the retailer you are buying the product from offers an extended warranty, SquareTrade does too... The difference between them and electronics stores or other retailers, is that they aren’t trying to make up their low profit margins on pricing by selling way over-priced warranties. (Circuit City went out of business when they couldn’t sucker enough people into buying warranties anymore.)

Great price isn't the only important thing!

...when you have a SquareTrade warranty, you have a warranty that was explained, represented, and sold by Square Trade. ...the most important difference between a SquareTrade warranty versus a regular warranty from the store is that the warranty company doesn’t care if you have a good experience or not. You didn’t know who they were when you bought the extended warranty in the first place, and you won’t know who they (or one of their many subsidiaries) is when you are contemplating buying a warranty next time. In other words, they have no incentive to give you good service or worry about getting a bad name. On the other hand, SquareTrade is a stand alone company that would quickly go bankrupt if it got a bad reputation. In fact, they need your repeat business. The only way that is going to happen is if you are a satisfied customer, which means giving you a much cheaper price than in the store, and actually trying to satisfy you if something goes wrong while your product is under their warranty.

Read the recent laptop study Computerworld published from RESCUECOM? Curious what your thoughts are. There's an interesting discussion surrounding their results and methodology in comparison to our in-depth analysis on laptop reliability.

What’s the motivation? Much of the discussion echoes our thoughts: consumers should have access to statistically significant data with transparency in methodology, etc. Many of you expressed interest in our multi-year laptop reliability report for this very reason. While we can’t speak for RESCUECOM, the goal of SquareTrade’s reliability reports (like our overall company mission) is to empower consumers, giving you the opportunity to make an informed choice (even if this means publishing data showing lower failure rates than reported by other sources.) More relevant data for consumers: Given the overwhelming interest in our previous studies – including our 2009 laptop reliability report – our current plan is to continue gathering and publishing such data to help you make a more informed purchase decision. But we’re interested in hearing about what you find most relevant. What do you find most useful about our studies? Which of our studies have you found of most interest or valuable as a consumer? A SquareTrade Post-Turkey Day Present

Happy post-Turkey Day! Hope everyone traveled safely and is pleasantly stuffed! Myself? I enjoyed time with the family back in North Carolina but am glad to be back in San Francisco. I think my coworker's shenanigans may have been extra incentive to hurry back to the office! Working at SquareTrade HQ, in downtown SF is anything but boring. It's hard work to run best-in-class service, but truly rewarding! One of the many perks of working at SquareTrade HQ is having colleagues who are also known for having quite the sense of humor... Last week as I was leaving the office, I caught a fellow SquareTrader in the midst of one of his crazy office shenanigans. At first, I wasn't exactly sure what he was up to. Hint: This involved the desk of a co-worker who was heading out of the office for vacation until Monday... I tweeted about it then but wanted to be sure this was documented and shared with fellow SquareTraders and fans. The Supplies: When I came across B.J. last Tuesday, he had laid out the supplies in preparation: a roll of gift wrapping paper, tape and ample craft paper.
