Yep, some of us are in a bit of a panic. Recession? Depression? Temporary "adjustment" on Wall Street? While we all try and muster up the courage to take a peak at the status of our mutual funds, let's take a look at some things you probably don't need to invest in during this economic uncertainty. I'm no financial adviser, but my guess is that you're probably better off keeping your money in cash than investing in these gems:
A gold-plated Macbook Pro with sapphire Apple logo.
A $130,000 diamond-studded LCD TV. The most expensive TV in the world. Might be cool, but I have a hunch that you can probably get a good deal on a regular one from our friends at eCost.
An automatic cocktail shaker, for effortless entertaining and maximum laziness. Except you still have to summon the energy to get it out, open up the bottles of booze, fill the shaker, put it in the machine, turn it on, take it off of the machine, pour, garnish, and deliver the drinks. At only about $100, it's the cheapest item on my list of "stuff you don't need under any circumstances," and quite possibly my favorite. If I were more like James Bond and less like Jill Bouwma, I'd get one of these in a heartbeat.
A diamond iPhone. It's cool enough as it is, don't mess with it.
Nespresso Crystal coffee machine for just a hair over $4,000. But it is Swarovski crystal encrusted, a necessity in these trying economic times.
Things you probably do want to check out:
A SquareTrade warranty, of course. We're here for you no matter what and we know that shelling out cash for a replacement when your item breaks could be even more of an "ouch" nowadays. We won't allow any of your appliances to torture you mentally or emotionally -- like poor Robin and her KitchenAid. (read: This $%#$&-ing KitchenAid Refrigerator won't stop $%#$&-ing Beeping!)
Woot.com -- It's just cheap. Two-for-ones, grab bags, super cheap things you'd probably buy anyway. Today's Woot: A two pack of 5-outlet power squids for $7.99. They only put up one item a day, so visit the site early or sign up for Woot's RSS feed for immediate deal scoop.
PocketMoney -- the first financial management app for iPhone (there's a Palm version too). Check out the details of the app on justanotheriphoneblog.com.
