Well-Hidden HDTV Deals at Best Buy.

It's not over until it's over, folks.  And it's not over yet.

We caught sight of Best Buy's new "All On Sale" banner for HDTVs (including flat panel, projection, and tube televisions), but frankly it was all pretty weak stuff as far as we could tell.  Until we came across the Hitachi Ultravision 50" 1080i flat-panel plasma HDTV, anyway.  Hiding in all the "forty bucks off" chaff is a real deal here: normally running for $2500, Best Buy's letting them go for only $2000.  Not bad at all.

Encouraged by that discovery, we pressed on and found they'd also clipped $300 off the price of their HP MediaSmart 47" 1080p flat-panel LCD HDTV, putting it right at $2100.  As insane as it sounds that the 50" Plasma is a hundred bucks cheaper than the 47" LCD, that's what they're listing at.  The world's gone mad.

Procrastination is an American Right, and we'll defend t some point in the ill-defined future.  In the meantime, Best Buy and Circuit City are stepping in to reward your seasonal sloth with a few choice discounts.

Circuit City has just put a digital camera sale front and center with a claim of "up to 25% off" on every digital camera they have in stock, but you don't need to go that high.  We found the Cannon SD1000 7.1 Megapixel digital camera for only 20% off, and that's enough to knock fifty bucks off the price.  Most of the other CC discounts run around the 10% range, though you can find a Sony Cybershot 8.1 Megapixel for about 21% off.  That's not bad for two of the better point-and-press options out there.

Best Buy, meanwhile, is going the tried-and-true Laptop and HDTV Sale route.  The laptop discounts aren't all that different from what we reported a while ago, but we were nicely surprised to see $703 taken off the price of a Panasonic 56" 1080p rear-projection LCD HDTV, for a sale price of $997.  That makes this easily the biggest and highest-end HDTV we've seen for under $1000 to date.  Those who doubted when we said this would happen, lament!

Amazon Customers Vote for Crazy Black Friday Deals.

While you ponder the wisdom of lining up for the newly-announced Best Buy Black Friday doorbusters, like a $229 Toshiba laptop with a Canon printer (we expect every store to have about ten of them) that's probably worth about that much, we feel it's our civic duty to tell you there's a less bone-breaking alternative. 

Amazon.com's keeping up their own tradition of virtual doorbusting with a slightly adjusted version of last year's voting system.  Basically, they're going through six rounds of voting on three items, and anyone who votes becomes eligible to get the goods at a ridiculously low price.  We're talking a Nintendo Wii for $80, a Panasonic SD-1 Hi-Def camcorder for $300 (about a third its normal price), HP Pavilion laptops for $300 (less than a third its normal price), and more.

The thing is, you have to vote to get the deal offered, and check back to see if you're getting that deal offered to you.  And if you do, and you buy something like, say, the Samsung 46" 1080p LCD HDTV for $714 (about a thousand bucks under blue book), then feel free to head over our way and get the SquareTrade warranty for it.  Depending on what it is and how much you took it home for, you might even have the option to add Accidental Damage coverage, or extra years of protection.

Best Buy is jumping on the HDTV Under $1000 bandwagon with an HP 42" 1080p LCD television.  They've also put massive discounts on cell phones; $50 for an LG Chocolate and an LG Rumor for the cost of FREE.  Those almost certainly come with plans/activation fees of some kind... no info there yet.

Circuit City has even more to love.  Our favorites: sales on HP Pavilion Laptops (a 15.4" display w/AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor is going for $550 when it should be over $700) and a Nikon 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3X Optical Zoom for $200, which is $30 less than you'll find even on Amazon.  Plus, you'll get a FREE Wireless-G Router with any laptop purchase.  Nice!
