Today, Apple announced their new lineup, including the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. This was the debut event of the Steve Jobs Theater and a lot of information was provided. Here are some highlights.
New Watch Features
Existing Apple Watches can update to Watch OS4 starting September 19th. The highlight feature of OS4 is the heartrate tracking upgrade, including alerts for changes in heartrate during inactivity. There’s also the new Series 3 watch. Most stunning in this upgrade is the full cellular ability that allows you to leave your phone at home while on the go. It’s priced at $329 without cellular and $399 with.
Apple TV 4K
Apple TV is updating to Apple TV 4K featuring HDR with access to multiple movies and television shows. This software will offer movies in 4K for the same price as HD. Even better, any existing HD movies you own will be upgraded to 4K, if available, for free. Ordering can begin on September 22 for $179.
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8+
Store upgrades are coming to make buying an iPhone 8 easier, but what can you expect from this device? The glass and aluminum case is microscopically sealed and laser reinforced. It also has louder speakers with deeper base. Upgrading to the iPhone 8+ means getting better camera capabilities. So, how much is the new iPhone? The iPhone 8 starts at $699 and the 8+ starts at $799.
But Wait, There’s More!
For the iPhone’s 10th anniversary, Apple unveiled the iPhone X. Its edgeless display has no home button. Instead, swipe from the bottom of the screen to go home, or pause to enter multitask mode. The Face ID feature learns your face and uses it to unlock your phone. It’s also used when paying with your iPhone and using Animoji. The iPhone X starts at $999 and you can order one starting October 27th.
