The Best Hot Tub Gadgets, Accessories & Tech

Reading Time: 3 minutes

A hot tub can be a great way to unwind after an intense day. But it can be even more relaxing with help from some hot tub gadgets.

Studies have shown that immersing yourself in warm water releases the “feel good” neurotransmitter, dopamine. This explains why you feel your worries disappear as you sink into the warm water.

These days, there’s innovative tech products to enhance your hot tub experience even further. They also help keep your tub in tip-top shape so you can focus on fun and relaxation.

Below are some of the best hot tub accessories available.

Relax With Tunes From Waterproof Bluetooth Speakers

It doesn’t matter if you like whale songs, rock, or opera, music next to the hot tub adds to your experience. A waterproof speaker complete with Bluetooth technology lets you safely and easily stream anything from Enya to En Vogue all day long.

We’re a fan of the JBL Boombox because it’s one of the few portable waterproof speakers that not only has superb bass with adequate volume, but it also floats on water.

Another portable waterproof speaker that comes highly recommended is the Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM™ 2. Despite it only weighing 0.93 pounds, this Bluetooth speaker is loud. With a range of more than 100 feet, it can play music clearly from your mobile device.

Another plus is the Wonderboom 2’s battery, which can last up to 10 hours—three hours longer than the original model.

Manage Your Hot Tub Cover With a Lifter

A hot tub cover protects your unit from debris and dirt that can contaminate the water or damage your tub. One smart spa accessory to help manage your cover is a cover lifter.

This CoverMate 3 Hot Tub Cover Lifter is one of the most reliable and beautiful spa cover lifters on the market. The hydraulic design offers a superior experience. It also eliminates a common issue found on other lifter models, which causes the shock struts that lift and support the lid to break.

This hot tub cover lifter also features a patented wind lock system. This system helps keep your hot tub clean because it stays in place even in high winds or snowstorms.

Clean Your Tub Water With a Vacuum

No one wants to have to clean their tub before being able to use it. And while the tub’s filter can eliminate contaminants that make their way into your water, it won’t be able to get rid of it all. This is why a hot tub vacuum—that’s independent of any filtration system—is an easy and effective way to keep your water clear and ready for use.

We like the Polaris SpaWand for its versatile design. This wand comes with interchangeable nozzles, each for a specific surface like floors or steps. The SpaWand also only weighs three pounds, so most everyone can operate the vacuum manually.

Measure the Temperature With a Hot Tub Thermometer

Before climbing into your hot tub, you want to make sure that you’re comfortable with its water temperature. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a maximum hot tub temperature of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C) for safety. (Anything higher than that can have ill effects.) That said, most people prefer a hot tub temperature of around 97–100 degrees F (36–38 degrees C) for optimum comfort.

Newer hot tub models have a built-in temperature limiter that prevents the water from becoming too hot or too cold. Regardless of whether your tub has a limiter or not, having a digital pool thermometer helps you quickly confirm the temperature before you get in

The great thing about a hot tub thermometer is that it can measure three to four inches below the surface. Sometimes, the water temperature on the surface isn’t the same below it. So, when you get into the tub, what you thought was warm is actually cold underneath.

The GAME pool thermometer floats on the surface but its probe reads up to five inches beneath the surface for more accurate results. The two LCD screens on either side are easy to read, with one for Celsius readings and the other Fahrenheit. The thermometer also won’t get stuck inside skimmers thanks to the attached tether line.

Keep Warm After Your Soak With Hot Towels

Once you’re done soaking in your hot tub, you can keep the spa vibe going by wrapping yourself in a warm towel. A hot towel cabinet is a truly luxurious accessory that you can place near the tub so there are warm towels when you’re ready to dry off.

We like the Zadro Ultra Large Luxury Towel Warmer because it can store two large bath towels at once and warm them up to a very toasty temperature in just seven minutes.

Reward Yourself With Hot Tub Tech

Using any of the gadgets above is sure to enhance your hot tub’s relaxing effects. And there’s nothing better than treating yourself to some peace and tranquility when life is feeling hectic.
